Status-Action-Reason (SAR) Definitions

GRADS uses the LionPATH terminology and structure of Status-Action-Reasons (SARs). The most common SARs are shown below.

CN-DENY-INEL Cancelled – Ineligible for admission The Graduate School has deemed the applicant as ineligible for admission (does not meet minimum admission requirements). Application center staff The applicant will be sent a letter from the Graduate School. A copy is sent to the program for their records.
CN-ADRV-RESC Cancelled – Admission revoke, offer rescinded Offer of admission is rescinded after the application has matriculated. Application center staff (upon notification in writing from the plan) The applicant will be sent a letter from the Graduate School if the admission is revoked for a negative reason (eg. falsification of credentials).
CN-WAPP-WOFA Cancelled – Withdrawal after decision Applicant wants to withdraw application after the admission decision was made. Program or application center staff if prior to matriculation. Only GES Coordinators if after matriculation (in LionPATH) and must check for joint admission. Applicant must re-apply and pay another fee if they wish to be considered again.
CN-WAPP-BDEC Cancelled – Withdrawal before decision Applicant has withdrawn their application before the plan has made an admission decision. Applicant via status page Applicant must re-apply and pay another fee if they wish to be considered again. The applicant should contact GES if this was done in error.
CN-DENY-PREF Cancelled – Program/Plan Refusal Program does not wish to offer admission. Program staff The applicant will see on their status page a decision has been made by the program and they will be contacted. Plans must notify the applicant of the refusal. The Graduate School does not send a letter to the applicant when program refuses.
APP-RECN-RECN Applicant – Reconsider Post Decision Use this status at any time to indicate a change in the application semester or degree type. MUST USE TO SET UP A DEFERRAL Program staff or application center staff Follow the directions for Application Deferral for information.
CN-WADM-RESM Cancelled – Resume into previous plan This status is used for resume study applications. It prevents the application from matriculating in LionPATH and creating an unnecessary (duplicate) CAR in the plan stack. Application center staff GES Coordinators update the plan stack in LionPATH to activate the CAR of the resume.The assignment process in LionPATH can begin.
CN-ADRV-DEFR Cancelled – Admission revoked, deferred after matriculation Applicant has matriculated in LionPATH but has been deferred to another semester. Only GES Coordinators If you see this status in GRADS, the applicant can be moved to AP-APPL-MI for reconsideration for the new semester.
AC-MATR-AUTO Matriculated – Auto Applicant is jumped “over the fence” to LionPATH. Now an active LP student record. Automated update LionPATH processes begin. New students receive email from Identity Services about activating their access account and the processes begin to run to assign the Student Activity Guide and Financial Responsibility Agreement in the Student Center.
AC-MATR-MAN Matriculated – Manual Applicant is jumped “over the fence” to LionPATH. Now an active LP student record. GES Coordinators can manually matriculate the record in LionPATH when necessary (e.g. the auto matriculation fails) LionPATH processes begin. New students receive email from Identity Services about activating their access account and the processes begin to run to assign the Student Activity Guide and Financial Responsibility Agreement in the Student Center.
PM-DEIN-PERM Prematriculant – GS Admit/WC or HY Accept International (not WC) applicant has been cleared by ISAA and formally admitted to the Graduate School. Automated update caused by ISSA indicator in LionPATH The matriculation will occur (see AC-MATR-AUTO).
AD-ADMT-PEND Admitted – Foreign Offer Accepted International applicant (not World Campus) has been reviewed and approved by application center staff. This status initiates the ISSA review. Application center staff ISSA and the applicants work together at this point. If cleared, ISSA will indicate in LionPATH. Application center staff can check clearance using a query.
AD-ADMT-PERM Admitted – Admitted and Accepted Offer Domestic applicant (or international World Campus applicant) has been reviewed and admitted. Application center staff The matriculation will occur (see AC-MATR-AUTO).
AP-APPL-POFA Applicant – Plan Offer Accept by Student Applicant has accepted the offer of admission. Applicant – this status will display when the applicant accepts on the application status page Application center staff will review the application (to admit).
AP-APPL-POFF Applicant – Plan Offer Extended to Student Program has extended a contingent offer of admission to the applicant. Program staff change the status on the Admission tab of the application in GRADS The offer is visible on the applicant’s status page. The applicant must accept the offer in order to continue the admission process (see AP-APPL-POFA), or decline the offer.
AP-APPL-CMPL Applicant – Application Complete, Pending Review Graduate program staff have reviewed the admission materials and determined all required materials have been received. Program staff The program reviews the applicant for admission and will then update the status to AP-APPL-POFF or CN-DENY-PREF.
AP-APPL-RVC Applicant – Review Complete The application has been reviewed by the application center staff and determined the applicant meets eligibility requirements. Application center staff The graduate program reviews the applicant for admission and will then update the status to AP-APPL-CMPL, AP-APPL-POFF, or CN-DENY-PREF.
AP-APPL-RVW Applicant – Pending Review The application has been flagged during the eligibility review. Program staff are requesting an eligibility determination be made by the application center staff. Program staff Application center staff will review the application to identify and resolve the eligibility issue.
AP-APPL-VI Applicant – Verifying Information Applicant has submitted a resume study or a change of major/degree application. Automatic – defaults to this status when a resume or change application uploads Application center staff will review the application to identify and resolve any issues (time to degree, low GPA, research credits, residency requirement, missing or deferred grades).
AP-APPL-MI Applicant – Missing Information Applicant applied to the Graduate School. This is the initial status of the application and it may or may not be missing information. Automatic – defaults to this status when application uploads or moved to this status by application center staff after verifying a resume or change application. Application can be reviewed for eligibility, receipt of all required materials, etc, by plan.
