P1 - Satisfactory Scholarship
Policies
Procedure
- At the start of each Fall or Spring semester, Graduate Enrollment Services will send a letter to graduate program heads, students, and associate deans for each continuing student enrolled in a certificate or degree program with a cumulative GPA below 3.00 (degree) and 2.00 (certificate), alerting them of the student’s failure to meet the minimum GPA for satisfactory scholarship defined by Graduate Council (see GCAC-404 Satisfactory Scholarship), and recommending that the program work with the student to ensure future success.
-
- Graduate programs may also run lists of students in their program that include the cumulative GPA at any time. Examples include:
- LionPATH query: PE_AA_STDNTS_BY_PLAN_W_STATS
- LionPATH query: PE_RP_STDNT_STATUS_BY_TERM
- Starfish may also be used to identify students under a specific GPA threshold.
- Graduate programs may also run lists of students in their program that include the cumulative GPA at any time. Examples include:
- A veteran enrolled as a graduate student and using Veteran’s Administration (VA) education benefits must maintain a cumulative 3.00 grade point average. Any veteran enrolled as a graduate student who fails to earn a cumulative GPA of 3.00 at the end of any semester must meet with their adviser to work on any barriers to success. If the student fails to achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.00 by the end of the following semester, the VA will be notified of the failure to maintain satisfactory academic progress and VA benefits will be withdrawn. Whether the student may continue in the program is determined by the graduate program following its standard approach to unsatisfactory progress.
