Graduate Education Systems

• View graduate all Penn State programs and primary contact information for each program
• Add, update, or modify each faculty or staff member associated with each graduate program and plan of study
• Manage primary contact information for each graduate program
• Maintain the list of individuals who the Graduate School contacts about important graduate education updates

If you need to view more information than the public view of GPMS, contact your program coordinator email the Graduate School Dean’s Office at graddeansoffice@psu.edu.

Only the Graduate School Dean’s Office can update lists of Graduate Faculty for each program, or change the program head. Faculty and staff who need to manage programs, can view GPMS instructions in the Graduate School Resource Portal.

• make admission offers to applicants

You will request access to GRADS through IdentityIQ. Visit the GRADS page of the Graduate Resource Portal for detailed information.

Staff and faculty can find more information about how to use GRADS in the [Graduate Resource Portal]. Some pages in this system are only accessible to individuals in GPMS.

• Update milestones for students
• Check the progress of doctoral qualifying and comprehensive exams
• Ensure that students are eligible to graduate

You will use IdentityIQ to request LionPATH access. Because there are multiple roles and levels of security, your supervisor will need to confirm that you have the right level of access. View more about what level of access to request.

Use the Graduate Education Resource Portal to find how-to guides on completing various important actions for graduate student records in LionPATH.

• Add, edit, or drop a course
• Add, edit, or drop a graduate program
• Submit prospectuses for program requests

All Penn State faculty and staff have access to CIM. If you are unable to log in, contact curriculumhelp@psu.edu for assistance.

Visit the CIM website for up-to-date user guides on the various course and proposal requests.

Administer awarding for University fellowships including: University Graduate Fellowships, Bunton-Waller, Graham and the Funds for Excellence in Graduate Education (FEGR) program.

Individuals who need to request access may contact gsfellowships@psu.edu with a description of their intended usage.

Training resources are available within GRATS.

• View groups of students, such as advisees, students enrolled in your courses, or students connected to you through other records-related ways
• Filter groups of students based on record attributes such as graduate students in your program who have not completed milestones, or graduate students in your program with cumulative GPA below a certain level
• Communicate with individual or groups of students
• Manage appointments and record notes from student meetings

Access to Starfish is granted automatically based on adviser assignments and committee appointments in LionPATH. Program leaders and program staff are granted access automatically assigned based on the GPMS assignments for those positions. Starfish access updates overnight, so changes made to LionPATH or GPMS today are available the following day in Starfish.
